Senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi met with U Than Swe, Myanmar's deputy prime minister, on Wednesday ahead of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers Meeting in Beijing.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the tenth anniversary of the Principle of Amity, Sincerity, Mutual Benefit and Inclusiveness in Neighborhood Diplomacy. Both were introduced by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
On Wednesday, Wang said Lancang-Mekong Cooperation has always had a leading role in implementing these important principles. He added China and Myanmar are comprehensive strategic cooperative partners, and said Beijing is committed to strengthening ties across various fields, safeguarding border stability, and promoting common development. Wang and U Than Swe will co-chair the meeting with foreign ministers on Thursday.
