Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday sent a congratulatory message to Andry Rajoelina on his reelection as president of Madagascar.

China and Madagascar share a traditional friendship, Xi said in the message, adding that bilateral relations have been developing at an accelerated pace, and exchanges and cooperation in various fields have yielded fruitful results.

The two sides have also mutually supported each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns, he said.

Xi said he attaches great importance to developing China-Madagascar relations and is willing to work with President Rajoelina to continue pushing for greater development of the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries to benefit the two peoples.
