The opening ceremony of China Media Group (CMG)'s "Journey Through Civilizations" global exhibition was held on Wednesday in Tokyo, Japan.

The event was attended by more than 100 people, including representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Japan and officials from the Japanese political, academic and media sectors.

Noting this year marks the 45th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, Xing Bo, vice president of CMG, said CMG has cooperated with multiple mainstream media in Japan to promote mutual understanding and close friendship among both peoples, while delivering a speech at the event.

Xing said the "Journey Through Civilizations" global exhibition is another innovative move to deepen exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.

Speaking of the special exhibition in Japan, Xing said spectators at the exhibition can immerse themselves in the extraordinary charm of the legendary archaeological ruins including Liangzhu and Sanxingdui and feel the Chinese civilization.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda said China is an ancient civilization with a history of thousands of years, adding that Chinese civilization has played a positive role in the development of world civilization.

Fukuda said he hopes the Japanese people can learn more about the achievements of Chinese civilization through this special exhibition.

Other attendees including Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao and Kiyomi Seno, chairman of the Japan-China Society, hoped the special exhibition will contribute to enhancing cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between China and Japan as well as strengthening people-to-people exchanges.

The special exhibition in Japan is the eighth stop of the global exhibition and also the last stop in 2023.

"Journey Through Civilizations" was launched in late June. Using multimedia, digitalization and immersive technologies, the show displays archaeological discoveries important to tracing the origin of the Chinese civilization, and demonstrates the evolution of the Chinese civilization and its diverse culture.
