UN Secretary-General António Guterres has invoked Article 99 of the UN Charter for the first time since he assumed office in 2017 to press the Security Council on the need for a ceasefire in Gaza. Azmi Hassan, a geostrategist and senior fellow at the Nusantara Academy for Strategic Research, says invoking Article 99 would put more pressure on the UN Security Council, which would have a positive impact.
