Japanese prosecutors on Thursday requested death penalty for Shinji Aoba, who is charged over the 2019 arson attack on Kyoto Animation that killed 36 people, NHK reported.
The suspect has admitted to starting the fire and faces five charges including murder, attempted murder and arson.
