Major Snow, or "Daxue" in Chinese, the 21st solar term on the traditional Chinese calendar, falls on December 7 this year. According to Chinese tradition, the country enters midwinter on this day, where temperatures begin to drop significantly across China. Each year around this time, the northern regions of China start to become adorned with ice and snow, presenting enchanting winter scenes of frost, icefalls and other frozen dreamlike landscapes created by nature.
