Cai, who is a three-time world champion and four-time Olympian, has always missed a bit of luck when it comes to the Olympics. She had won 13 World Cup titles and seven season-ending Finals titles before the Beijing Winter Games, but only placed fourth in the event.
Cai topped the podium, at the same venue she missed it almost two years ago, with a final score of 93.25 points from her third attempt, although she had secured the title in her first run with 86.00 points.
Fellow Chinese snowboarder Liu finished second with a score of 85.75 from her second run, followed by Maddie Mastro from the United States with 85.50. China's Qiu Leng finished seventh.
In the men's final, Beijing 2022 silver medalist Scotty James of Australia won the title with 91.25 from his first run, while the defending Olympic gold medalist Ayumu Hirano of Japan committed errors in all three attempts. Japan's Ruka Hirano and South Korea's Lee Chaeun rounded off the podium. China's Liu Ziyang finished sixth.
