Japan should stop seeking military expansion by using the so-called "China threat" theory as an excuse, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Thursday, in commenting on the recent release of a report by Japan's National Institute for Defense Studies which hypes up the "China threat" theory.

On November 24, Japan's National Institute for Defense Studies released the China Security Report 2024, which Wang said makes irresponsible remarks over China's military strategy and the country's internal affairs.
