The 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change convened in Dubai on November 30.

On the opening day of the session, the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) released its Action Report on Promoting Green and Low Carbon Energy Transition. The report highlighted the SGCC's contributions, its active response to climate change as well as the ways in which it is accelerating the construction of new power systems.

The report looked at China's dedication to green development and introduces how the company has been performing in terms of promoting energy transition. It also outlined the company's principles, key tasks and development initiatives.

Energy is an important foundation for global economic and social development. Ensuring safe and reliable energy supply and promoting green and sustainable development is of common interest to all nations. As a key state-owned enterprise and one which is related to national energy security and the economy, the SGCC adheres to the principle that clean and low-carbon is the future. It is dedicated to ensuring energy supply, providing energy security and independence as well as driving innovation. The company says it strives to be the promoter, pioneer and leader of the energy transition.

On Thursday, the Green Value Summit UAE was held in Dubai as part of COP28. The State Grid of China's Zhejiang Electric Power Company was invited to introduce its plans for sustainable development, such as supporting urban green and low-carbon development with big data, and helping to prepare for the first carbon-neutral Asian Games.

Focusing on sustainable urban development, the SGCC took a significant step in 2021 by establishing a big data center for energy in Zhejiang. Since its inception, the center has completed energy efficiency diagnoses for over 4,000 key energy-consuming enterprises. During the 19th Asian Games, the State Grid of China's Zhejiang Electric Power Company played a crucial role in reducing coal emissions by 76,000 tons. As part of its commitment to sustainability, the company also introduced an energy-saving and carbon-reducing green network for the main stadium. This resulted in an impressive 23 percent improvement in energy efficiency.

The success of these initiatives attracted praise from guests at the event in Dubai, who highlighted the SGCC's accomplishments as a valuable source of inspiration for global enterprises to learn from.
