Lyrurus is a bird genus in the grouse subfamily. It's 18 dark brown tail feathers unfold like an ancient lyre. They are called black grouse because the males of both species have black plumage as their base color.
They are found in northern China's vast forests. They are approximately the size of a chicken. During the breeding season, the eyebrow patterns of the male black grouse change, swelling and turning crimson. For them, the new season is a time to fight for love.
