02:03

The Jinan-Zhengzhou high-speed railway went into operation on Friday. It links the respective capital cities of east China's Shandong Province and central China's Henan Province, and is the latest section of the national "eight verticals and eight horizontals" high-speed railway network. The 407-km railway line runs at a top speed of 350 km per hour, and cuts the travel time between the two cities from nearly four hours to one hour and 43 minutes. There are a maximum 61 trains scheduled each day. There are 13 stations along the line, which is expected to foster new economic growth.
