China sent a remote-sensing satellite into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Sunday. The satellite, coded as Yaogan-39, was atop a Long March-2D carrier rocket which lifted off at 9:58 a.m. Beijing Time. It has entered the preset orbit. Sunday's launch was the 500th flight mission of the Long March rocket series.
