Imperial palaces reflect close connections between China and Vietnam

The Imperial City of Hue is one of the most stunning places to visit in Vietnam. It is a walled enclosure set within the citadel of the city of Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam during the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945).

The Imperial City of Hue was constructed in 1803 based on the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. Similar to the Forbidden City, it is surrounded by walls and a moat. The Imperial City of Hue was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.
