Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), said on Sunday that the impact of the conflict in Gaza on health is "catastrophic," and Gaza's health system is "on its knees and collapsing."

Speaking at a WHO special session on the health conditions in Gaza, Tedros said that only 14 hospitals out of the original 36 in Gaza are partially functional and 1,400 beds are available out of an original 3,500, according to a social media post of the WHO. About two-thirds of primary health care centers are non-functional, he added.
