Duanwu Festival is an occasion that is celebrated in China as well as Vietnam. During the festival, people in both countries eat zongzi, a type of glutinous rice dumpling. It is also a custom for the children in both countries to wear sachets to help drive away harmful bugs. However, the way that the zongzi are made and the flavors they hold often differ between China and Vietnam. Besides eating zongzi, Chinese people also hold dragon boat races to commemorate Qu Yuan, a great patriotic poet. While in Vietnam, people believe that eating zongzi will help their prayers for a good harvest.
