Greater Hinggan Mountains Series Ep. 3: What is island forest?

CGTN
05:26

Located in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, Nanwenghe Wetland is a national nature reserve. This stretch of pristine wetland is located in Songling District in the Greater Hinggan Mountains region. It extends into the open river valley and doubles as the main birthplace and water conservation area of the Nenjiang River. Each island-like forest resembles a miniature city, influencing the surrounding area based on size and volume. With the forests as centers, animals, plants and microorganisms in the periphery coexist harmoniously and form a stable ecological complex. Check out this video to learn more about the unique environment of the "island forest."
