Four major power transmission lines broke down on December 13 due to heavy snowfall and extreme cold in Wenxi County, Yuncheng City, north China's Shanxi Province, causing a power outage in its neighboring county of Yuanqu. The provincial power company launched a first-level emergency response. Local officials say so far, the communal heating systems and power supplies in the county have resumed by more than 90 percent and 50 percent respectively.
