Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged all-out efforts in emergency response and ensuring a warm and safe winter for the people.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the instruction on the prevention of and response to disasters induced by low temperature, rain, snow and freezing.
Heavy rain and snow hit many places across the country recently, putting a great impact on power supply, transportation, and people's production and life, Xi noted.
He urged relevant regions and departments to step up to their responsibilities and make detailed precautionary measures.
It is necessary to pay close attention to weather changes, step up monitoring, research and judgment, and issue early warning information in a timely manner, he said, urging efforts to strengthen traffic and power inspections, and ensure the safety and smoothness of transportation networks and power grids.
He called for improving the supply capacity of coal, electricity, oil and gas, and strengthening emergency rescue preparations to ensure energy security and supply.
Efforts must be made to increase overall planning and deploying; enhance the production, sales and supply of important commodities related to people's livelihoods, and maintain price stability.
