Zhang Jun, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, on Friday called for the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire resolution on Gaza that was adopted on Tuesday. 

On Tuesday afternoon, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution demanding an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire" in Gaza, with 153 supporting the draft resolution, 10 against and 23 countries abstaining.

China welcomes the ceasefire resolution, and the reality that the resolution was adopted by an overwhelming majority reflects the common aspirations of the international community and it must be fully and effectively implemented, Zhang noted.
