The main tomb of the Marquis of Haihun – Liu He, located in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province has opened to the public since December 15, adding another chapter to stories of the Han Dynasty (202 BC-220 AD). Liu He is the grandson of Emperor Wu, whose reign ushered in one of the most prosperous periods in Chinese history.
A great amount of precious artifacts, including gold items, bronze relics, iron tools, jade objects, lacquerware, ceramics, textiles, and bamboo slips, was unearthed from the very tomb. Previously, the main tomb of Liu He was under high-level protection, and people could only see the rammed earth foundation of relevant ceremonial buildings, as well as wells, roads, and drainage remains from the periphery. Now, the newly opened main tomb will reconstruct historical scenes via showing its original appearance, archaeological restoration, and digital reinterpretation.
