Manchester City remains 4th in the Premier League standings after Phil Foden gave away a penalty, which Michael Olise capitalized on deep into stoppage time, leveling the match 2-2 on Saturday.

The defending champions, missing Erling Haaland to a foot injury, have only snatched one win from the last six fixtures, and will not play in the league again until the end of this month when they travel to Everton, before which they will start their FIFA Club World Cup campaign against Japan's Urawa Reds next Tuesday. Palace now sit 15th in the standings with 17 points, eight above the relegation zone.

Jack Grealish put City ahead in the 24th minute, scoring for the third consecutive league match in his career with a pass from Foden. The goal was validated as onside after a video referee assistance (VAR) check. Defender Rico Lewis doubled City's lead, thumping in a second goal in the 54th minute.

Jean-Philippe Mateta, however, turned things around for the visitors when he scored in the 76th minute from close range in the 76th with a fine Jeffrey Schlupp cross, though Crystal Palace had only two shots on goal compared to City's 19 attempts throughout the match.

"Manchester City are a world-class team and you've just got to try to stay in the game as long as you can and hopefully catch them on the break which we did," said Palace keeper Dean Henderson who made his debut for the club.

"It's really unfortunate but we've got to look at ourselves and look at our individual decisions and then look at us as a group," said City defender Lewis.

In Spain's La Liga, lower ranked Valencia forced a draw against Barcelona 1-1, which extended Barca's winless run to three games in a row in all competitions, after losing the previous matches in a span of four days.

Joao Felix finally broke the deadlock in the 55th minute from close range strike with a cross from Raphinha, and Hugo Guillamon leveled the score 15 minutes later slotting in from the edge of the box.

Barca are third in the La Liga standings with 35 points, having played a match more than second-placed Real Madrid and leaders Girona.
