Japan will start the fourth round of dumping of nuclear-contaminated water into the sea in late February next year, state broadcaster NHK reported on Monday citing Tokyo Electric Power Company.

The total amount of discharge is expected to be 7,800 tonnes, the report added.

Japan formally started releasing treated radioactive water from the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean on August 24 this year, despite opposition from neighboring countries like China and South Korea, followed by the second and third release on October 5 and November 2, with each discharge lasting around 17 days.
