A round-the-island tourist highway officially opened in China's southern island province of Hainan on December 18, 2023. Also known as "National No. 1 Coastal Scenic Highway," it traverses 12 cities and counties along the coast of Hainan Island in a circuit that extends for 988 kilometers. It links coastal capes, lighthouses, bays and marshes.
