Sevilla Football Club on Monday named Quique Sanchez Flores as their new coach with a contract that runs until the end of June 2025.

Flores, 58, has coached multiple Spanish clubs including Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Getafe (three times) and Espanyol, as well as Watford and Benfica overseas, although he was sacked from his most recent club Getafe after the club fell into the relegation zone.

He has replaced Diego Alonso to become Sevilla's third coach of the season and their fifth in just over a year, following their 3-0 defeat to Getafe this past Saturday. Alonso, who only coached eight games after replacing Jose Luis Mendilibar in early October, lost all the matches he was in charge of.

Sevilla now sit 17th in the La Liga, fourth from bottom, with only 13 points from 16 games, and crashed out of the Europa League, which they had owned seven times before.

The new manager will hold his first training session with the club on Monday evening and make his debut the night after when his side makes the short trip to play Granada, who are two places below Sevilla in the tally, in a vital game for both sides. They will next play against Atletico Madrid on December 23 in a match postponed from October because of extreme rainfall in Madrid.
