Dubai's recent COP28 brought the international community together at a critical juncture to bring about transformative climate action. With 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions, cities are at the forefront of the fight against climate change. It means that green initiatives will be instrumental in meeting the targets set at the 2015 Paris Agreement. On this edition of The Hub, Wang Guan sat with a panel of city officials and stakeholders at the China Pavilion at the COP28 to discuss how major cities like Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Sydney in Australia, and Shanghai, Yantai and Fuzhou in China go about synergizing concrete climate actions such as green transition and carbon trading on one hand and socioeconomic development on the other. These cities have provided original and replicable solutions based on their respective strengths and are on the way to achieving a smooth green transition while taking advantage of opportunities in terms of growth and development.
