Xi Jinping's special envoy attends mourning event for Kuwait's late Emir Sheikh Nawaf

Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy Shohrat Zakir on Monday attended a mourning event for Kuwait's late Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday.

The new emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, met with Shohrat Zakir, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

Shohrat Zakir brought a message of deep mourning and sincere condolences from President Xi in the name of the government and people of China to the Kuwaiti government and people and Emir Nawaf's family.

Highly respected and loved by the Kuwaiti people, Emir Nawaf was actively committed to the Sino-Kuwaiti friendship during his lifetime, making unremitting efforts to promote the development of Sino-Kuwaiti relations, Shohrat Zakir said.

Shohrat Zakir told the new emir that China attaches great importance to developing Sino-Kuwaiti relations and is ready to work with the Kuwaiti side to promote the strategic partnership between China and Kuwait.

Emir Sheikh Mishal asked Shirkriti Zakir to convey his cordial greetings and high respect to President Xi.

He noted that his country is willing to make joint efforts with China to deepen the cooperation between the two in various fields and push Kuwait-China relations to a new level.
