The Bingling Temple Grottoes, a cultural heritage site located in Yongjing County, Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, are temporarily closed to the public following a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred earlier in Jishishan County, approximately 80 kilometers away. According to the local authorities, the grottoes themselves have not suffered any damage, and relevant inspections and assessments are currently underway.
The Bingling Temple Grottoes were carved into the cliffs on the north bank of the Yellow River in the early years of the Western Jin Dynasty (265-317). The grottoes include 183 niches, housing a total of 694 stone-carved statues, 82 clay sculptures, and approximately 900 square meters of murals.
