Global shipping experts say diverting Asia-bound vessels from the Red Sea down to South Africa's Cape of Good Hope would increase shipping costs and delays as ships navigate a longer distance. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore, says diverting the vessels will not just increase transport time, it also means a large jump in insurance and fuel costs, delayed delivery, and even impact inflation in some countries.
