The local authorities have arranged safe and warm shelters for the quake-affected villagers in Zhongchuan Township, northwest China's Qinghai Province, 15 kilometers away from the epicenter of the magnitude-6.2 earthquake that struck northwest China at midnight on Monday.
Nine tents have been set up at one of the shelter points, each capable of accommodating seven people and a stove. A local primary school has also been used to receive over 130 displaced villagers. A medical support team consisting of internal medicine, orthopedics, surgery and psychology specialists has also arrived at the shelter point to provide consultations and treatment for the affected people.
