The Hangzhou Asian Games, held in late September and early October, set out to be the first carbon neutral event of their kind. This was a particular challenge, given that these were the largest-ever Asian Games, with the most events. To achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, a major focus was addressing energy emissions. Key measures included using renewable energy for all event venues and facilities, and adopting innovative construction techniques to conserve resources. The efforts were supported by the people of Hangzhou, whose green lifestyle habits, such as cycling and online payment, have helped to offset carbon emissions.
