The magnitude-6.2 earthquake that jolted northwest China on midnight Monday killed 22 people in Qinghai Province so far, local authorities said on Thursday morning.
Search and rescue operation is underway in Qinghai as 12 people are still unaccounted for.
The death toll in Qinghai has brought the total number of people killed due to the strong quake to 135 as another 113 lives were lost in neighboring Gansu Province.
