Live updates: Hamas says 20,000 killed in Gaza, UN delays aid vote

– The death toll of Palestinians from Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since October 7 has reached 20,000, including more than 8,000 children and 6,200 women, the Hamas-run government said on Wednesday.

– A United Nations Security Council vote on a bid to boost aid to the Gaza Strip has been delayed by another day to Thursday, hinging on last-minute negotiations between the U.S. and Egypt over a proposal for the UN.

– The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is beginning fighting Hamas in new areas of Gaza City in neighborhoods of Daraj and Tuffah as it nears the end of the ground offensive in northern Gaza, a IDF spokesperson said on Wednesday.
