The Chinese mainland will suspend tariff cut on imports of 12 items including acrylic and p-xylene from Taiwan region starting from January 1, 2024, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council announced on Thursday.
The commission said the action was in response to discriminatory prohibitions, restrictions and other measures imposed unilaterally by Taiwan against products from the mainland which was a violation of the cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA).
"It is hoped that the Taiwan region will take effective measures to remove trade restrictions on the mainland," the commission said in a statement.
