Infrared cameras recently captured footage of wild giant pandas marking their territory in the snow-capped forest in the Baishuijiang area of the Giant Panda National Park in Longnan City, northwest China's Gansu Province.

A video clip shows an adult giant panda playing joyfully in the snow before leaving marks on a tree trunk.

Data from China's Fourth National Giant Panda Survey shows a total of 111 wild giant pandas are living in the Baishuijiang area.

According to experts, adult giant pandas usually leave their body scents on tree trunks to mark their territory and warn other passing individuals. This behavior also helps an adult giant panda with courtship.
