Analyst: Americans believe government gives up protecting them

Gun violence remains a serious social issue in the United States. The country has the most private guns in the world, and suffered over 600 mass shootings in 2023. That's more than the number of days in a year. Einar Tangen, a senior fellow at the Taihe Institute think tank, says civilian firearm ownership in the U.S. is increasing as they need self-defense and believe the government has given up protecting them.
