China's domestically built polar icebreaker Xuelong-2, which is on the country's 40th Antarctic expedition, docked at Lyttelton Port in New Zealand again on the early morning of Saturday to carry out material replenishment and personnel rotation.
The icebreaker completed supply unloading and personnel boarding at the new station in the Ross Sea area before arriving at the port and helped transport 23 South Korean expedition members to the port.

During its stay at the port, Xuelong-2 will supplement supplies of vegetables, fruits and other materials, and pick up the members for the marine expedition, after which it will head for the Amundsen Sea to carry out a comprehensive investigation and monitoring of biological ecology, water environment, sedimentary environment, atmospheric environment and pollutant distribution.

Organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, China's 40th Antarctic expedition has sent three ships for different research missions.
The icebreaker Xuelong is on its way to the Great Wall Station for material unloading and scientific research tasks. The Tianhui cargo ship has completed the unloading operation for the construction of the new station which has started full construction.
