China's Spring Festival countryside gala activities were launched in Beijing on Friday.

The event, which offers a preview of upcoming festivities in the countryside across China, was attended by Shen Haixiong, China Media Group's president and vice head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee; Sun Yeli, also vice head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee; Rao Quan, vice minister of culture and tourism; and Wang Xiaozhen, CMG's vice president, among others.

The countryside-based gala activities carry the essence of local dialects, rural areas and rural sentiments, vividly portraying the spirited demeanor of rural communities moving forward, Wang said.

The exhibitions will continue to innovate its format, bringing the distinctive features of rural areas from all regions to the stage and screen, he said, adding that it will showcase a vibrant array of performances brimming with the vitality of rural life, narrating the simple stories of the new era, new rural areas and new farmers.

Rao said the brand recognition and reputation of countryside gala activities have significantly increased, making them a golden business card for bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new in beautiful villages and a cultural cornerstone for construction.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and cultural workers will take the opportunity of the exhibition to delve deeply into exploring, inheriting and promoting outstanding local cultures, Rao said.

He said they aim to add momentum to industrial development, promote the spirit of the times, and foster new trends in Chinese civilization.

This effort will contribute cultural strength to the building of livable, business-friendly and beautiful villages, Rao added.
