Ice and snow sports in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region are providing a welcome winter warmer for the local school kids. Despite piercing winds and freezing weather, students in the region can enjoy a myriad of sports activities in their physical education (PE) classes.

The following pictures were captured during their PE classes at the Shuixigou Middle School in Urumqi County in Xinjiang's capital, Urumqi City, on December 20, 2023. The school has integrated ice and snow sports into its education systems for over 20 years.
