Azerbaijan's foreign ministry has declared two French embassy employees persona non grata over "conduct that is not compatible with their diplomatic status," it said on Tuesday.

The ministry said it had summoned French Ambassador Anne Bouillon to complain without providing any details of the incident that prompted the move.

"These persons were demanded to leave the territory of Azerbaijan within 48 hours, and the corresponding note verbale was presented to the French side," Azerbaijan's foreign ministry said.
