China has accused the United States of interfering in China's internal affairs. In mid-December, the U.S. passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024. The bill contains negative Taiwan-related content. In response, a spokesperson from China's State Council Taiwan Affairs Office claims that Washington's actions have caused serious damage to peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits.
