At least 25 were killed after heavy rains overnight on December 16 in Bukavu, the capital of the South Kivu province in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to the national broadcaster Radio Télévision Nationale Congolaise, bodies have been found in several neighborhoods across the city, and homes have been flooded by rainwater. The total number of casualties is expected to rise.
