With New Year's Day fast approaching, the Laomendong historic district of Nanjing in east China's Jiangsu Province, has been illuminated with festive lanterns. Eye-catching dragon lanterns are appropriately taking center stage as 2024 marks the Year of the Dragon on the Chinese calendar. The lanterns in the historic district also form part of the attractions for the city's Qinhuai Lantern Show, a local folk event. The show usually runs for the entire Spring Festival period.
