Following one final rehearsal, the China National Symphony Orchestra performed their New Year's concert ahead of the holiday on Monday.
In 2023, the China National Symphony Orchestra returned to Australia after six years for a musical feast at the Sydney Opera House. It also performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, playing a key role in promoting cultural exchanges.
Li Xincao, chief conductor at the China National Symphony Orchestra said: "The orchestra has held concert tours in many countries around the world in recent years. I think using the language of music to express our culture is the best way to communicate, spread, and expand our influence. Chinese and international musicians have joined forces to tell everyone how to love peace and love life in the language of music."
It's been a very busy year for the orchestra, with more than 100 concerts performed internationally, leaving a musical footprint around the globe, from South Africa all the way to Oceania, and there's a lot to look forward to in the coming year.
"In 2024, we will have more cultural communication. The number of invited international artists will be much higher than before. I also hope the international exchanges can further open up in the future, whether it involves our musicians going abroad or inviting others in," Li Xincao said.
A diverse audience watched the performances.
The China National Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1956. More than six decades on, it continues its tradition of sharing the joy of music with everyone to usher in a brand new year.
