Germany and its European Union partners are discussing whether to mount a new maritime mission in the Red Sea to protect commercial vessels under threat of attack. The discussion comes in response to increased attacks by Yemen's Houthi militia on Israel-bound and Israel-linked commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
