Ice skating, culture, and delicacies delight at Shichahai

The Shichahai Ice Rink conducted its trial operation on Friday.

In the heart of Beijing, the Shichahai Ice Rink becomes a haven of winter activities every year, drawing both locals and tourists to its icy embrace. As one of the oldest ice rinks in the city, it has long been more than just a venue for ice activities: It has also become a place for people to immerse themselves in an experiential journey of the cultural charm of old Beijing.

Stretching across 160,000 square meters, the open area of the Shichahai Ice Rink hosts a diverse array of activities. Alongside traditional ice sleds, bicycles, and speed skating, a dedicated 5,000 square meters have been allocated for an ice-skating training area, staffed by professional instructors.

The Shichahai experience extends beyond the ice, with an official cultural and creative store promoting a captivating array of souvenirs adorned with Shichahai elements. From refrigerator magnets to stamps and postcards, the store adds a creative touch to a visit, complemented by the adjacent "cultural and creative corridor" near the lotus flower pier.

Culinary enthusiasts are not left behind, as the venue offers a selection of traditional Beijing delicacies. From tempting street snacks to iconic regional dishes, visitors can savor the diverse cuisine of Beijing.

Statistics show that the Shichahai Ice Rink receives tens of thousands of visitors each year, including local residents, and domestic and international tourists, making it one of Beijing's key winter sports and fitness venues.

The opening ceremony of the Shichahai Ice and Snow Cultural Season and the official opening of the ice rink is scheduled on this Friday, December 29. This year, visitors to the Shichahai Ice Rink can pre-book and purchase entrance tickets online.
