China experienced a series of extreme weather events this year - from record-breaking summer heat waves to a winter that feels colder than ever to many across the country. While southern China is accustomed to floods in July and August, northern China was hit with the worst flooding in 60 years. The capital Beijing recorded the heaviest rainfall in over a century. More than 30 people were killed, and over a million forced to flee their homes to safety. In our special year-end series "2023 Revisited," CGTN returns to one of the worst-affected areas south of Beijing, to see how residents are recovering from the flood disaster four months ago.
