China's new Jidi icebreaker debuts in Guangzhou

The new generation of China's Jidi polar icebreaker research vessel made its debut in Guangzhou of southern Guangdong Province.

With a length of 89 meters, a width of 17.8 meters, and a displacement of 5,600 tonnes, the vessel's navigational range is 26,000 kilometers with a fixed staff of 60 people, and is capable of unrestricted navigating worldwide. One replenishment could sustain the vessel with all those aboard for more than 80 days at sea. After undergoing testing, the vessel will begin to conduct scientific research missions in the second half of 2024.
