Zhang Jun, the permanent representative of China to the United Nations, said after he listened to President Xi Jinping's address at the central conference on work relating to foreign affairs, that "Adhering to the principles of China's distinctive diplomacy, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and Xi Jinping's diplomatic thoughts, China has played an important, responsible and constructive role in international affairs by actively assuming responsibilities, forging ahead and responding to global challenges."

The central conference on work relating to foreign affairs was held in Beijing from Wednesday to Thursday. Xi, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered an important speech at the conference.
