The year 2023 witnessed frequent exchanges by top business and government officials from China and the United States. Einar Tangen, senior fellow of the Taihe Institute in Beijing, says that China-U.S. ties are the world's most consequential relationship. But, he added, the ties are often challenged by ideological rigidity within Washington as well as economic and security frictions.
