The Kazakhstan Folk Orchestra played traditional Kazakh instruments for an online audience in Almaty as part of CGTN's "Read a Poem for 2024" show, a 24-hour livestreaming event hosted in seven cities worldwide on December 31 to celebrate the New Year. The Dombra, Kubuz and Sazi, instruments typical of Central Asian folk music, were among those used during the performance. The livestream started simultaneously at 8 a.m. GMT (4 p.m. Beijing Time) in Sydney, Xi'an, Changsha, Almaty, Cairo, Paris and Mexico City. Residents in the seven cities went on air and talked about their New Year's resolutions, read a poem or gave New Year's blessings. Check it out!
